Open Event -Towards Fashion Justice: A UK-India Exchange Think Tank Webinar

The University of Exeter's Environment and Sustainability Institute and the GW4 Water Security Alliance cordially invites you to its first online Think Tank, Towards Fashion Justice: A UK-India Exchange on Friday 17 July, between 11am-1pm.

Event details

This is an interactive online event that explores multiple injustices in the fashion system from workers’ rights and environmental pollution through to cultural appropriation.

The event will broaden and deepen our awareness of fashion’s injustices through interactive events and discussions with participants from India and the UK across multiple academic disciplines and in businesses. Outcomes include a report and the basis of a network for the development of cutting-edge research grants in this area.

The Think Tank is an open event to registered attendees from a range of academic and industry backgrounds.

Professor Clare Saunders will introduce the session and share what has been learned from a preliminary touch-feel exercise with artefacts as well as a survey of Indian and Cornish respondents.

The session invites participants to reflect and build on their own initial ideas about fashion justice and help us work towards developing a report outlining multiple injustices in the fashion industry. We hope to broaden everyone’s perspective through showing and discussing a documentary through interactive online polling and commenting software.

The event closes with reflections from academics across a range of disciplines, who will also answer questions raised in the written chat.

Upon registration of this event you will be provided with further details including the Zoom link to access the Webinar.
